The number that decides the project

Onekilowatt-hourpercubicmetre.

The largest operating cost in conventional desalination is energy. MENZOE distributes the work across four natural inputs — solar thermal, sub-surface water cooling, osmotic pressure, partial vacuum — and reduces it by an order of magnitude.

What is MENZOE™

Fourinputs.Oneprocess.Minimaldischarge.

MENZOE — Multi Effect Near Zero Operating Energy desalination — pairs four natural inputs to drive thermal distillation at low temperature. Raw seawater enters; potable water exits; brine discharge is minimal.

  1. 01

    Solar thermal energy

Captures heat at 80–85% efficiency to ~85°C.

  2. 02

    Natural water cooling

Cold water at depth condenses vapour without refrigeration.

  3. 03

    Osmotic pressure

Membranes assist separation of salts from water.

  4. 04

    Partial vacuum

Internal pressure < 500 mbar enables low-temperature distillation.

Why it matters

  1. L · 01

    Defence & strategic infrastructure

Forward bases, naval installations and remote-island deployments — where the energy supply chain is the binding constraint on water availability. The demonstrator runs on a Bombay Engineering Group site, where that constraint bites hardest.

  2. L · 02

    Coastal municipalities & ports

Capacity expansion for coastal urban-local-bodies and port authorities, without the operating-energy bill that has stalled reverse-osmosis tenders across India.

  3. L · 03

    Industrial process water

High-volume desalinated water for refineries, power generation and chemical manufacturing — sited where seawater is closer than freshwater.

Project 01

Fabrication and factory testing complete. MoU signed with the Bombay Engineering Group & Centre, Kirkee for proof-of-concept installation. Installation completed 26 March 2026, with raw water drawn from the Mula river. Functional and water-quality trials conducted from April 2026, reporting in progress.
